OS X – Fail to start MySQL server which is installed by Homebrew

After i reboot my OS X, i find that i couldn’t start the MySQL server and it throws the following error:

hatuey:5.6.19 yingkityuen$ mysql.server start
Starting MySQL
. ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file (/usr/local/var/mysql/hatuey.local.pid).

 

Go to the above folder and delete the mysql error log which is ended with .err. In my case, i executed the following command:

hatuey:5.6.19 yingkityuen$ rm /usr/local/var/mysql/hatuey.local.err

Where hatuey is my Mac machine name.

This should fix the problem.

陶傑 – 「包容」的中國難題

中港糞便戰，禍啟於「包容」二字。

中國人社會不明白西方文化的「包容」。你走進奥地利維也納的金色大廳，聽一場柏林交響樂團，試一試穿拖鞋、T恤，拿一隻手機，在人家演奏莫扎特交響曲二十一號到一半時，手機的音樂響，你接上，「喂、喂」吼幾聲，高叫：「給我進兩個億中移動股」，一面放一個響屁，再關機，你看四周的白人，對你包不包容？

除非這個金色大廳，由陝西來的農村企業包了場，演唱紅歌，全部招待歐洲華僑。你在廳裏脫上半衣，一面搔腳，一面和唱「南泥灣」，四周操北方話、覺得自己生活得強大而幸福的中國新移民，當然會「包容」。

中國人的「包容」，不是對異見、創造、個人性格的包容，而是對一個農民社會骯髒卑穢的多樣生活陋習超乎人性常理的承受和忍耐。

Javascript – Determine which event is triggered

Recently i have been working with Dashing which is a great tool to displaying information as a dashboard. I would like to show the dashboard on a big TV. Everything works fine on my Mac but when it is shown on the TV screen, the onclick event is not triggered.

I need to check which event is triggered when i press on the TV screen. The web developer console in Chrome of Firebug in Firefox could help you to determine which event is triggered. For example, the menu bar of Eureka! has the following HTML structure.

Ant – Execute Grunt and fail it on error

I want to execute a Grunt build in an Ant build project. This could be done by using <exec>.

It works quite well, but then i realize if there is error in the grunt execution, Ant will still mark the Ant build successful and this may lead to some downstream failure in a continuous integration workflow.

佔中是一件好事。美國人發明的互聯網和手機，短訊四海達通，人人發表高見，不佔中，你還不會發現，立場不同不要緊，但認識了許多年的人，你以為很了解他，原來他是如此見識。

譬如香港許多人傳來轉去的一個中國觀點：「英國人統治了香港一百五十年，從前你們沒向英國人要過民主，為什麼現在要？」

這個問題，對沒有常識的笨蛋族群，一下可以唬住，智商正常的人，打個哈哈。

「一百五十年以來，你們從來沒向英國人要過民主」──所謂「我們」，即今天的八九十後，只有二三十歲，這一代香港人，沒有一個人有一百七八十歲的壽命，即使「殖民地一百五十年香港都沒有跟英國人要過民主」，這是香港人的祖父、曾祖父、高祖父那幾代廢柴，他們從來沒有跟英國人要過民主。這一代香港人，跟他們的曾祖父和高祖父沒有見過面，完全是陌生人。

高祖父、曾祖父、祖父，沒有跟英國人要過民主，他們放棄了，關我屁事？正如梁振英的母親據說是個纏小腳的山東女人，但梁振英的女兒沒有纏小腳，不妨問梁特在英國的女兒：「你阿嫲從來沒有向英國人要申請過去英國讀書，為什麼你要去英國？你阿嫲是個纏小腳的女人，纏了許多代，你為什麼要學鬼婆一樣保留一對『天足』？」

台灣大學生佔領了立法院之後，又轉攻行政院，闖進堂堂中華民國行政院長江宜樺的辦公室翻看文件，如此悲壯聲勢，自「五四運動」的北大學生「內除國賊、外抗強權」而火燒趙家樓以來罕見。

中國發動輿論攻勢，大罵台灣大學生是「紅衞兵」。台灣是中華民國，台灣大學生即使街頭抗爭，也只上承中華民國的五四運動傳統。「紅衞兵」是大陸毛澤東的基因獨家，其他國家，不可能複製，砸毀孔廟，破壞文物，而且上有一名赤色教主。台灣大學生沒有用鞭子抽教授，沒有當場打死中學校長，更沒有闖進故宮博物院。所以台灣「紅衞兵」之說，低智商的人才會相信。

馬總統如何應對，令人擔心。小馬哥是一個潔癖的政治小白臉，尤為注重「國際形象」。現在，英國鴨巴甸大學的政治系洋人教授──要強調不是華裔，而是洋人──開腔了，越洋責備我們小馬哥：你用棍棒打學生，你跟鄧小平和共產黨有甚麼分別？

Say i have the following text field which i would like to show the tooltip on the right.

Let’s invoke the tooltip in Javascript as follow:

$('input[rel="txtTooltip"]').tooltip();

 

The tooltip above has a limited width.

collectd – Cannot send out matrics

collectd is a statistics gathering tools which helps system admin to analysis the system conditions. It includes both server and client implementations. The collectd client send metrics to the collectd server.

 

I installed the collectd on a CentOS 7 machine and try to send the metrics to a Graphite instance. But no matter how i changed the setup, the Graphite couldn’t receive any data. Finally, i realized that it is blocked by the SELinux policy.

這是一場世代之戰，也是一場理想與現實之戰……

人必須在現實上之憑藉愈少而感飄蕩無根時，然後精神上之理想才愈能向上提起。但提起的理想又還須落在現實上生根 。然而我們只注目在理想之在現實上生根時，理想之自身即可暫不向上生發，而現實的泥土，亦即同時可窒息理想之種子的生機。這是一切個人的人生與人生之共同的事業，同有一內在的根本矛盾與危機。這點意思，我希望大家能有一真切的會悟，然後再看我們有無解決此矛盾與危機之道路。

這是一個文化上被亡國的人對他的學生畢業前的一番說話… 那時的中國文化已到了一息尚存的一刻，能找到一個避難的地方安頓下來苟延殘喘已是不可多得。

這個時代的年青人或許不會感受到他的悲傷，但面對著不公義的社會、沒有希望的將來，現在在香港走出來的年輕一代所要求的，正正是他們理想的避難所。

可悲的是到了五六十年後的今天，這班年青人還未開始去找尋理想就已經被標籤為沒有獨立思想、被煽動的一群…

對，他們是被煽動的，所以鄰近大國先要有Great Firewall，北韓將西方的民主國家形容為邪惡之源，為的不就是避免它們的年青人免於被煽動嗎?

年長的，當你們一邊埋怨年少的不長進、不懂事、不思考時，不要忘記他們現在被困在的你們有份搭建的鐵屋，你們最終會像孔乙己一樣無聲無息地先離開，但年青的仍會不斷拼著生命地咆哮，直到鐵屋塌下。

這是一場世代之戰，也是一場理想與現實之戰……

中國必定要「統一」台灣，表面上是「維護領土完整，神聖原則不可侵犯」，但烏蘇里江以東和黑龍江以北，那一片中國領土更大，也一樣「神聖」，為何那一大片有四個法國大的領土，正式送了給俄國？

因為這是個心理學的問題，黑龍江以北那一大片，贈送給俄國，中國領導人每一個，在骨子裏都戀慕馬列主義的蘇俄，正如香港人今天還在戀慕彭定康的英國。愛是盲目的，毫無理性可言。

二來烏蘇里江那邊沒有什麼人居住，一片寒天瘠土。中國帝皇權力的原始心理學，是以自己的意志施加於人身上，我要「管理」你，受到我的意志支配的，一定要是人，而且數量越多，越有快感。

黑龍江以北只有幾隻黑熊，沒有什麼人，台灣卻有二千三百萬人，而且看上去自由自在，活得很好。明明一樣的「炎黃子孫」，一九四九年，我本來就該追擊你，武力令你歸順，但這件事沒有完成，你這兩千萬人逍遙在我權力的版圖之外，就像一個極度潔癖的人，看見牆上有一塊泥漬，不抹掉，心中有如刀割之苦。
