第十站，再遊 Athens。

係船上睡了一晚，天未光就回到 Piraeus，先到旅館放底行李，立即出發到雅典衛城 – Acropolis。早期的雅典衛城建於公元前6世紀，那時有一座雅典娜的神殿，現在叫做 Old Temple of Athena。之後衛城係公元前5世紀被波斯人破壞(第一次的希臘與波斯之戰)。係戰爭結束後，由雅典執行官 Pericles 帶領雅典人重建衛城，而擔起重建重任的有雕刻建築家 Ictinus 和 Callicrates。

Propylaea

雅典衛城聖域的入口，由公元前437年開始建造，但到了公元前432年還未完成就停工。

 

Temple of Athena Nike

原先在此的神殿被波斯人破壞，直到公元前428年重建來紀念波斯戰爭獲勝，成為 Temple of Athena Nike。Nike 係勝利女神，雅典人曾經在神殿內放置沒有翅膀的 Nike 神象，象徵勝利女神永遠留在 Athens。

 

Sanctuary of Artemis Brauronia

位於 Parthenon 神殿前面，係祭祀代表月亮與狩獵女神 Artemis 的聖地，現在只剩下大理石碎片。

 

Old Temple of Athena

位於 Erechtheion 神殿旁邊，雅典衛城最早的神殿，被波斯人破壞，與 Sanctuary of Artemis Brauronia 一樣，只有大理石碎片。

 

Erechtheion

諸神之家，係公元前406年完工。南邊有6位女子之柱，叫 The Porch of the Caryatids。

 

Parthenon

雅典衛城上最大的神殿，也就是新的雅典娜神殿，建於公完前432年，前後足足用了15年時間才完成。

 

Theatre of Dionysus

位於雅典衛城下面，大概建於公元前6世紀，原先係木造的，公元前325年以石塊重建，係古希臘最老的劇場，Dionysus 係酒神與戲劇之神。

 

Asclepeion

位於雅典衛城南面的斜坡上，係治癒之神 Asclepius 的聖域。

 

Arch of Hadrian

Hadrian 係羅馬五聖主之一，這門位於 Temple of Olympian Zeus 北面。這門的兩邊刻了兩句希臘文，試估下那一句係 Temple of Olympian Zeus 那邊?

• ΑΙΔ’ ΕIΣΙΝ ΑΘΗΝΑΙ ΘΗΣΕΩΣ Η ΠΡΙΝ ΠΟΛΙΣ — This is Athens, the ancient city of Theseus.
• ΑΙΔ’ ΕIΣΙΝ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟΥ ΚΟΥΧI ΘΗΣΕΩΣ ΠΟΛΙΣ — This is the city of Hadrian, and not of Theseus.

 

Temple of Olympian Zeus

希臘最大等級的神殿，由公元前6世紀開始動工，直到 Hadrian 時代才完成，即係用了650年時間。現在只剩下15條柱子。

 

Ancient Agora of Athens

古代的市場，建於公元前6世紀。

 

Temple of Hephaestus

希臘保存得最好的神殿，建於 Ancient Agora of Athens 的山上，祭祀火神與治鐵之神 Hephaestus。

 

The Roman Forum of Athens

羅馬時代初期(公元前1-2世紀)的 Agora，裡面有 Gate of Athena Archegetis、East Propylon 與 Tower of the Winds 等建築。
