The Calendar module also provides a mini calendar navigation block. For more information about the Calendar module, please refer to Drupal – Calendar.

So after you have enabled the calendar view, go to Adminster -> Site building -> Blocks and enable the calendar block.

 

The mini calendar is shown in the sidebar now.
